EBC Renovations:
The New Market
+ Lobby Remodel

This blog contains the latest information and updates about our project to remodel the lobby and renovate and expand the Food Shop into the new EBC Market. This is a major project, and we have devoted a lot of time, thought and resources to minimizing any inconvenience to members.

An expansion and reimagining of the Food Shop, the Market will offer even more fresh and wholesome foods with a special attention to limiting preservatives and processed meals. Our goal is to provide a convenient one-stop shop to replace extra trips to the grocery store, offer a wide range of carefully purveyed local and artisanal products, and serve delicious and healthy meals made in our kitchen daily. Plus, since many members will want to create their own healthy meals, the Market will feature a salad bar and hot bar. We’ll also have fresh-made sushi, a larger refrigerator for our Club-made meals and dietitian-designed Fit Meals, and much more. In addition, our new coffee bar will serve top-level coffee and espresso drinks to go with baked goods made fresh in our kitchen every day.

The Market will encompass the space of the former first-level restaurant and the current Food Shop. To keep the Food Shop open, the work is being done in phases, and in early spring, we plan to move the Food Shop into the area that is currently under construction so that we can work on the current Food Shop space.

A full remodel of the first-level kitchen is a major part of the project. In order to run the Market and better service our other dining outlets, we needed to renovate our main kitchen with all new and updated equipment. That work is already being done, and it will be a major upgrade, allowing us to increase our commitment to providing Club-made dishes that are fresh and preservative-free, using the highest quality ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible.
